OUR HISTORY

Green Creek Fire Rescue was organized in 1964 as a Volunteer Fire Department, with the support of the Ruitan Club. Its first station was located at the Green Creek School. Since then, our Headquarters on NC9 and our Substation 2 have become our operational stations. Currently, Station 3 is under construction on Pea Ridge Road, and is scheduled for completion in 2022. Over the years, our volunteers have evolved from basic firefighting to more in-depth rescue technicians and medical first responders, and with these qualifications, it was imperative to add an ambulance to the fleet for needed medical transportation to local hospitals. In 2015, Green Creek Fire Department came to be known as Green Creek Fire Rescue. Also in 2015, volunteers trained and met the needed certifications to gain an ISO Rating of 6/9E. Our ISO Rating would later be lowered to a 5/9E in 2021. These ISO Ratings greatly benefit insurance premiums of Green Creek Township. Today we operate with approximately 36 volunteers, and paid staff in a part time rotation. Our more recent budgets allowed us to replace and add several pieces of apparatus to include a 2021 Ford F150 Squad Vehicle, a 2013 Chevy Silverado 4x4 for quick response medical calls, a 2010 Pierce Engine, and a 2022 Four Guys Rescue/ Pumper that is currently being built. We move forward as a department that is guided by its exemplary history of pride and service.
